In 1948, Agnes Arber became the first woman to receive the Gold Medal of the Linnean Society, a world-famous institution dedicated to the study of natural history, for her contributions to botanical science. As a botanical historian, she focused her scientific research on flowering plants under the wing of her mentor, morphologist Ethel Sargent.

It is with an appreciation for Arber’s work – her dedication to discovering all the intricacies and wonders of the natural world – that this gin collection has been produced. A convergence of nine herbs and fruits, distilled together in Langley Distillery’s affectionately named Jenny, one of the oldest working copper gin stills in the United Kingdom.

Our original Premium Gin is made using the same traditional method of gin distilling that was used in Arber’s day. It is a convergence of nine studiously sourced botanicals and clean, pure alcohol. A solid and heady scent of juniper followed by sweet lemon tones, Arber Premium delivers the expected juniper flavour harmoniously balanced with a soft blend of orange and lemon and a hint of liquorice sweetness to finish.  The nine botanicals included in Arber Premium gin include angelica, cassia, coriander, grapefruit, iris, juniper, lemon, liquorice and orange. Using the original Arber Premium as the base, fresh rhubarb and pineapple are added post-distillation to achieve our Pineapple and Rhubarb flavoured gins.
