About Buen Amigo Tequila
Buen Amigo Tequila Gold is smooth with subtle woody notes, citrus and cooked agave with caramel in the finish.
Buen Amigo Tequila Silver low hints of alcohol, subtle citrus and fruity notes, cooked agave.
Production:
Buen Amigo is a Mixto, meaning 51% of the sugars used during production are extracted from agave and 49% are other sugars.
Stage 1: Agave Tequilana Weber ‘blue agave’ that has been harvested for at least years is sourced from the valley and the highlands of Jalisco.
Stage 2: These raw agaves are then crushed in a high-tech mill to extract up to 98% of their sugars.
Stage 3: Next up is the continuous hydrolysis process, a unique system that uses heat exchangers to cook the raw agave juice, thus breaking the sugar chemical chains into to simple sugars that allows for a better performance in fermentation.
Stage 4: The cooked agave juice is then sent to fermentation tanks (these are made of stainless steel and are closed) where a unique yeast is used, plus special nutrients to aid fermentation, and fermentation lasts approximately 36 hours.
Stage 5: Finally, it’s time for distillation. Using stainless steel column stills, the liquid is double distilled allowing for a better separation of the heads and tails from the heart of the tequila (at 70% ABV). The Tequila is then diluted with distilled water to reduce the ABV to 35%.
Before the tequila is ready for bottling, it is filtered three times to make sure no foreign materials are present. After these filtrations, Buen Amigo Blanco is ready to be bottled and enjoyed!
This liquid can then be mixed with tequila reposado (which has been rested in American oak barrels for at least 2 months), to create Buen Amigo “Gold!”
